Ocean County Landlords Among 25 Facing Fines For Considering Tenants' Criminal Histories
Twenty-five landlords are facing fines after state officials said they violated state laws by considering potential tenants' criminal histories. According to NJ Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin and the Division on Civil Rights (DCR), the notices of violation allege that the housing providers violated the law by, among other things, asking criminal history-related questions on housing applications that are prohibited by the law. A West Windsor teen has been accused of driving drunk and more than twice the speed limit in a crash that killed his passenger, authorities said. Sidewalk Save: Bodycam Footage Shows NJ Officers Saving Choking Baby
Newly-released body-worn camera footage shows two New Jersey police officers saving a choking baby. Hightstown Officers Daniel Abbatemarco and Kenneth Larsen responded to a call of a choking baby girl on March 31. Upon arrival, they were met by a man holding the girl. Larsen arrived on scene and quickly performed the Infant Heimlich Maneuver on the girl, who was breathing again in a matter of seconds. Two West Nile Virus-Related Deaths Among Six New Cases Reported In New Jersey
New Jersey health officials are reporting an additional six cases of West Nile Virus including two deaths, and two presumptive viremic blood donor (PVD) cases in the state. The six new WNV cases are residents of Bergen, Camden, Cumberland, Hudson, Mercer, and Middlesex counties (one 50+, two 60+, one 70+, two 80+). A pedestrian was struck by two trains and killed in West Windsor Township, officials said. Body Recovered From Delaware & Raritan Canal In Mercer County
First responders were pulling a body from the Delaware & Raritan Canal in Mercer County on Wednesday afternoon, July 3, authorities said. New Jersey State Park Police and the Trenton Fire Department’s Water Rescue Team were called to a part of the canal in Lawrence Township to recover the body, according to Caryn Shinske, a spokeswoman with the state Department of Environmental Protection.
