Another Gaping Sinkhole Opens Up On Route 80
Route 80 is now closed in both directions in Wharton after yet another sinkhole opened, the NJ Department of Transporation announced Wednesday, March 19. The 15-foot b 15-foot hole opened along the eastbound work zone. This sinkhole is in addition to the other one right across the highway which opened months ago. Multiple sinkholes have been cropping up due to a void discovered underneath the highway, officials said last month. On March 14, the DOT said the eastbound lanes were expected to remain closed for another two months due to repairs.

Counterfeit Cash Chase Shuts Down Route 4 In Paramus, Two Arrested: Police
A police chase that spilled onto Route 4 in Paramus brought traffic to a halt Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 25 as officers pursued a suspect tied to a counterfeit cash scheme, authorities said. The incident unfolded around 4:30 p.m. when Paramus and River Edge police began pursuing men later identified as Corey Jones, 29, of Roosevelt, NY, and Isaiah Corbin, 46, of Queens, NY, in connection with fake U.S. currency being used at the Bergen Town Center, Paramus Police Chief Robert Guidetti said. Sinkhole Swallows Car, Tractor Trailer After Water Main Breaks In Wayne
A water main eruption Thursday, Jan 16 in Wayne caused the roadway to buckle and left a tractor-trailer and car stranded in large craters, police said. The North Jersey Water Commission water main on Demarest Drive, an industrial area of the township, broke around 5:13 p.m., according to Detective Capt. Dan Daly of the Wayne Police Department. Wayne officers closed Demarest Drive to additional traffic. Authorities have released the identities of both the pilot who survived and the passenger who died in a small plane crash that shut down Interstate 684 at the border of Fairfield, CT and Westchester, CT counties for hours.
