Landing Gear Fails Mid-Flight, Plane Skids Off Runway At NJ Airport
A plane carrying two people skidded off the runway at the Essex County Airport on Wednesday evening, Nov. 6 after its landing gear failed, Fairfield police said. The flight began at Essex County Airport but was cut short about six miles out when the pilot noticed electrical issues, Fairfield Police Chief Anthony Manna said. Five teenagers were arrested and charged this week in Bayonne after they beat a juvenile into unconsciousness on Tuesday, Oct. 22, authorities said. Nearly 2,600 people employed by a North Jersey hospital chain are expected to be laid off by the end of the year, according to a newly-filed WARN notice. This month, Carepoint Health filed notices with New Jersey's labor department indicating layoffs would begin on Dec. 12 at healthcare centers in Bayonne, Jersey City, and Hoboken.
