On Saturday, May 25, around 5 a.m., Jersey City Police Department  responded to Garfield Avenue, Gates Avenue and Seaview Avenue, where they found a 21-year-old Bayonne cyclist with life-threatening injuries, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.

The striking vehicle, driven by Dinesh Budhram, did not remain at the scene, Suarez said. Budhram is charged with assault by auto, driving while intoxicated in a school zone, knowingly leaving the scene of a crash and endangering an injured victim, Suarez said.

Budhram was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance, Suarez said.
