A Jackson Township teen remembered as "a bright light" was killed in a dirt bike crash in Cape May County, according to a fundraising campaign. Wells for some homes in Upper Township have tested positive for mercury, officials said. About a dozen wells were found to have "unacceptable levels of contamination" from mercury, Mayor John Newman said in a Facebook post on Monday, Oct. 14. Cape May County leaders are issuing a warning after eight mosquito groups tested positive for West Nile virus and eastern equine encephalitis. Seven mosquito collections tested positive for West Nile and EEE was detected in another during June and July, the Cape May County Department of Health said in a news release on Monday, July 22. School Bus Carrying Students Bursts Into Flames On Garden State Parkway
Ten students and their bus driver were uninjured when their school bus burst into flames on the Garden State Parkway in Cape May County Wednesday, April 17, firefighters said. Firefighters and EMS units were dispatched to mile marker 20.8 south in Upper Township around 2:30 where the bus had erupted in flames, according to Seaville Fire Rescue. Most of those who lost electricity are in Monmouth County, according to utility companies. An Upper Township man was killed in a late night double shooting in Atlantic City on Sunday, Jan. 7, authorities said. City police responded to a ShotSpotter alert on the 1100 block of Monroe Avenue just after 10 p.m., according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office. A 34-year-old woman from Burlington County was killed and four young children from Camden were hurt Wednesday in a crash off the Garden State Parkway in Cape May County, authorities said.
