Trenton Driver Left Pedestrian Crash Scene In Unsafe Van, NJ Police Say
A pre-dawn hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a 52-year-old pedestrian from East Windsor remains under investigation, authorities said. The pedestrian, who was crossing Route 130 westbound, suffered life-threatening injuries, police said. The 35-year-old driver of a Ford Econoline van, from Trenton, was arrested and charged after allegedly fleeing the scene, according to a crash report released by East Windsor Police Chief James A. Police ID Toms River Woman Who Died After Slamming Head-On Into Truck In Fiery Crash
A 52-year-old woman died after crashing into a truck head-on Monday in Toms River, police said. Claudine Silverstri was heading west on Route 571 in the left lane when she suddenly drifted into the right and struck a curb and guardrail near Oak Ridge Parkway around 7 a.m., a witness told police. The vehicle then veered to the left and entered the oncoming traffic lanes, where Silvestri collided head-on with a sign truck before her vehicle caught fire, police said. A 58-year-old pedestrian died on Sunday after being hit by a car while crossing a highway in Atlantic County, authorities said. A motorist from Galloway was driving a 2008 GMC Envoy west on Route 30 just after midnight when he reportedly struck Christopher Burtt of Massachusetts, according to Absecon police. Burtt reportedly was crossing at Absecon Highway (Route 30) and Station Avenue when the fatal crash occurred, police said. Cyclist Critical After Being Struck In Asbury Park
A bicyclist was hospitalized with serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Asbury Park Friday morning. The victim, whose identification was being withheld, was struck at the intersection of Main Street and 4th Avenue around 11:50 a.m., Asbury Park Police Sgt. Michael Casey said. Roy Piazza was driving westbound on Route 571 about 5:10 p.m. when his 2005 Chrysler Crossfire slid across the road and struck the pole head-on at the intersection of Whitesville Road and Leawood Avenue, Toms River police said. An Ocean County man was killed Sunday when his Jeep struck two parked vehicles and a tree, authorities said. Thomas Ronacher, 27, of Waretown died after his northbound Jeep Grand Cherokee veered across several lawns on Nautilus Drive and crashed near Quadrant Road, Stafford police said in a statement.
