High Winds Wreak Havoc In NJ Leaving Roads Closed, Hundreds Without Power
Wind gusts up to 50 mph were wreaking havoc across New Jersey on Friday, Aug. 9. As of 2:30 p.m., thousands of residents were without power and multiple roadways were closed due to downed wires and related crashes. The National Weather Service also issued a new tornado watch across North Jersey. An earlier watch for South Jersey and much of Pennsylvania has been lifted. Six People Injured In Seven-Vehicle Crash In Central Jersey
Six people were injured in a crash on a busy road in Monmouth County, authorities said. Holmdel police responded to the crash near the intersection of Route 35 and Laurel Avenue at around 1:17 p.m. on Sunday, June 9, the department said in a news release. Officers found seven vehicles involved with one vehicle smoking, as well as large amounts of oil and gas leaking into the road. More than 60 people have been arrested in connection with a protest that completely shutdown I-676 in Philadelphia on Saturday afternoon, March 30, authorities said. The protestors were from the Party for Socialism and Liberation, and ran onto the highway at Broad Street around 4 p.m., causing disruptions to traffic flow, Philadelphia police said at the time. Crash With Injuries Closes Route 1 In Edison (

There was a crash with injuries that closed Route 1 in Edison, authorities said. The crash occurred at about 1:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13 at Parsonage Road, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation. Tractor-Trailer Flips, Concrete Slab Closes I-195 Ramp
A tractor-trailer overturned and dumped a large concrete slab onto Interstate 195 during the morning rush hour, authorities said. The crash occurred at 8:14 a.m. Tuesda-Feb. 14 on I-195 eastbound exit 28B to Roiute 9 in Howell Township, according to Sgt. Philip Curry, a New Jersey State Police spokesman. The driver was not injured., Curry said. The exit ramp remained closed at noon and would remain closed until the concrete slab can be lifted back onto the trailer, Curry said. A New Jersey State Police vehicle was struck by a passing car along the Garden State Parkway in Middlesex County, according to developing and unconfirmed reports. Middletown Route 35 Closed, Pole Fire, Wires Down
Route 35 in Monmouth County was closed in both directions at rush-hour due to power lines down, authorities said. All lanes were closed between Harmony Road and New Monmouth Road in Middletown starting at about 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday because of electric poles on fire, reports said. A trucker was badly burned when his tanker burst into flames after it was struck by another vehicle Friday night at a gas station off Route 1&9 in Elizabeth, responders said.
