Toms River Company Among 19 NJ Businesses Who Owe $1.1M In Unpaid Dues, State Says
Nineteen businesses who owe a total of $1.1 million have been barred from public contracting until they pay back their dues, the New Jersey Department of Labor said. R.A. Florio Building Contractors Inc., of Toms River, for example, has been ordered to pay $39,555.57 to the state, according to the department of labor and workforce development. The final judgment was given on Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2020. The contractor is one of 101 total businesses on New Jersey's Workplace Accountability in Labor List, also known as the WALL. Newly-released forecast maps show parts of the region could see up to six inches of snow in the end-of-week storm. Intermittent snow is expected to begin between 4 and 7 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, with the heaviest amounts falling in the afternoon, the National Weather Service said. A Toms River man has been convicted about a year and a half after he punched another man and pulled a gun on him, authorities said. A jury found 37-year-old Raphael Powell guilty of seven charges on Wednesday, Jan. 10, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer announced. Powell was accused in an incident in Toms River on Saturday, July 2, 2022. More than 14,000 customers across the Jersey Shore are without power on Monday, Jan. 10, after strong winds and rain raced across New Jersey overnight. Most of those who lost electricity are in Monmouth County, according to utility companies. Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) said 10,489 customers were without power as of 11 a.m. Those included 2,169 customers in Marlboro, 1,238 in Millstone, and 1,088 in Colts Neck. Crews Hoist Vehicle That Veered Off Garden State Parkway
A vehicle that veered off of the Garden State Parkway in Toms River was hoisted back on the roadway on Wednesday, Jan. 3. The NJDOT says it happened north of the Toms River toll plaza just after 8:30 a.m. A traffic camera showed a car lifted onto a tow truck bed near mile marker 85 about 90 minutes after the incident was first reported. Police in Toms River are seeking four burglars who woke a sleeping family over the weekend. The Brower Avenue homeowner told police that they awoke around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 23 to two people opening their bedroom door, located on the second floor of the home, police said. Multiple Police Agencies Respond To Large Fight In Toms River
Multiple police units were dispatched to the Days Hotel on Route 37 in Toms River for a large fight in a parking lot, authorities said. While responding on Sunday, Dec. 17 at 12:45 a.m., officers received further information regarding possible gunshots. Further investigation revealed evidence that shots were fired but no victims were struck.
