Death Of Toms River High School Senior Prompts Wave Of Community Support The death of Toms River High School East senior Michael J. Goodfriend has prompted a massive wave of support throughout the community. Michael died at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital, New Brunswick, on Tuesday, Dec. 6, his obituary says. He was 17. A lifelong Toms River resident, Michael was a high honor roll student who enjoyed music, drawing, and skateboarding. Michael is survived by his loving parents, Francis and Debra Martinez; his siblings, Erick, Krista, Destiny, Victoria and Claudia Goodfriend; and many friends. He was 27 years old. A New Year's Eve baby, Anthony was born to entertain, his obit reads. He had a passion for musical theater and "lit up every room he entered." Anthony graduated from Toms River High School East (2014) and pursued a degree in radio, film and broadcasting at Rowan University. Police released photos (shown above) of suspects in the alleged break-in.  Police did not release any details other details on Tuesday. College Hockey Player From NJ Dies In House Fire Near Niagara University The body of a 23-year-old college student from New Jersey was found following a house fire near his university. Patrick Romano, of Toms River, died following Saturday's blaze at a home on Wyoming Avenue in Niagara Falls -- about a mile from Niagara University, where Romano was a junior, university officials said. The fire broke out at a Wyoming Avenue home around 5 a.m. Saturday, and took approximately two hours to control. The cause was under investigation.
