The body of a 92-year-old Edgewater man who left his walker, wallet and other belongings at the end of a Hudson River pier was recovered from the East River near the Brooklyn Bridge, authorities said. No foul play was suspected in the death of Patrick O’Kane, Edgewater Police Chief Donald Martin said. A New York Waterway captain summoned them after finding O’Kane’s things – including a jacket, gloves, a hat and keys -- at the Edgewater Marina on River Road just south of the George Washington Bridge on April 13, the chief said. NJ Police Lt. Mark Horan Takes His Own Life After 24 Years On Force
A police lieutenant who took his own life over the weekend in his New Jersey home is being remembered as a devoted dad and exemplary officer. Hamilton Police Lt. Mark Horan died Saturday, April 30 in his home. He was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, NJ Advance Media reports. Horan joined Hamilton's force in 1998 and assigned to the patrol division. He moved to the anti-crime unit in 2009, and a year later, was promoted to sergeant. In 2017, he was promoted again to lieutenant, serving in the anti-crime, patrol and administration divisions. : K-9, Jersey Shore Police Rescue 'Suicidal' Runaway
A police K-9 dog and his handler rescued someone who was suicidal and had run away, authorities said. The person had fled his residence in distress last week, Marlboro Township police said. After about 90 minutes of searching area woods, K-9 handler, Patrolman Joshua Abrahamson and his partner, Bolo, were able to guide patrol officers to a spot where the subject was found unharmed, police said. "We would like to commend Bolo and all the officers involved that helped lead this incident to a successful outcome," the police department said on Instagram and Facebook.

Three US Navy sailors stationed on the USS George Washington died by suicide within seven days of each other this month, The Washington Post reports. Inmate Dies Of Suicide At Cumberland County Jail, Authorities Say
An inmate in the Cumberland County Jail died of suicide earlier this week, authorities said. The 54-year-old man was found unresponsive in his cell around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1, according to a release from the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office.
