A 63-year-old man has been charged in a Central Jersey hit-and-run crash that killed a 14-year-old boy on Friday, July 7, authorities said. UPDATE: The boy has been identified in a financial campaign as 14-year-old Bryan Barbosa, of South River. Michael Arena, of South River, was behind the wheel of a white work van when he struck the boy riding his bike around 4:20 p.m. on Whiteland and Russell avenues, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and SRPD Chief Mark Tinitigan said. An 18-year-old man from Central Jersey has been arrested in connection with a fatal crash blamed on speeding and running through a stop sign, authorities said. Matthew Liebowitz of Freehold was charged with vehicular homicide in the crash, according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Chief Mark Tinitigan of the South River Police Department. A man who threw an iPad and iPhone containing child pornography into a Jersey Shore creek – only to have a drone help the FBI find them -- was convicted by federal jurors of several related charges. Charles F. Browne, 52, of South River, became a target of investigators after officials at Dropbox Inc. tipped them off, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger said. After a high-speed chase, four suspects were arrested in connection with stealing and breaking into cars, authorities said. On Monday, May 9, at approximately 6:36 a.m, Marlboro police received a 911 call from a resident who said that an unknown subject was attempting to gain entry into his neighbor’s vehicle. A volunteer firefighter from Central Jersey has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman, authorities announced Saturday. Raymond Brown, 67, was charged with criminal sexual contact with an adult female victim who he knew during the early afternoon on Friday, May 21, according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and South River Police Chief Mark Tinitigan. A law enforcement drone helped the FBI find an iPad and iPhone containing child pornography that a collector under investigation tossed into a Jersey Shore creek, authorities said.
