Motorists Seriously Hurt In Pair Of Garden State Parkway Crashes: Njsp
Two motorists were seriously hurt in a pair of crashes on the Garden State Parkway in Central Jersey, authorities said.
The first crash occurred at 12:53 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28 south at milepost 125.2 in Sayreville. Preliminary investigation indicates that a Freightliner tractor-trailer was traveling southbound in the express lanes when it went off the road to the right, then struck the guardrail and concrete support beam, according to Sgt. Alejandro Goez, a New Jersey State Police spokesman.

A teenager was taken into custody and charged with "an act of juvenile delinquency" for raping a senior citizen, authorities said.
If committed as an adult, the charges would be aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, burglary and theft, according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Acting Chief Daniel Plumacker of the Sayreville Police Department.

Pickup Driver, 62, Killed In Garden State Parkway Crash
A 62-year-old man from the Jersey Shore was killed in a single-vehicle crash on the Garden State Parkway, authorities said.
The crash was reported at 10:53 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 29 on the parkway northbound local lanes to Jon Bon Jovi Service Area in Sayreville, according to New Jersey State Police.
Preliminary investigation revealed a Ford F-150 was traveling on the exit ramp. While on the ramp, the Ford impacted the right guardrail, ran off the road to the right, overturned, and struck several trees, State Police said.

Kearny Man Charged In OD Death Of Newark Fire Captain
A 42-year-old man has been charged in the overdose death of a beloved 49-year-old Newark fire captain who was found unresponsive at a fire station in January.
Eliasel Baez, 42, of Kearny, was charged with strict liability in the death of Newark Fire Captain Carlos Rivera, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, said.
He was also charged with distributing cocaine within 1,000 feet of a school, authorities said.
On Jan. 15, Rivera, of Sayreville, was found unresponsive inside the Newark firehouse of Engine 15 Ladder 7 at 269 Park Avenue.

Rutgers graduate and devoted dietician Megan R. McCarthy died at her home in Toms River on Thursday, June 23. She was 35.
Born in Edison, Megan grew up in Sayreville before graduating from both the Cook College at Rutgers and the Rutgers School of Health Professions, her obituary says.
Megan had worked at Complete Care at Green Acres in Toms River, where she was a dedicated dietician who cared deeply for her patients.
Outside of work, Megan loved spending time with her family, cooking, and shopping, her memorial says.
