Serious Crash Closes Route 9 In Central Jersey
A serious crash closed Route 9 in Sayreville, authorities said. The crash occurred southbound at about 6 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 21 near Bordentown Avenue (Route 615), according to the New Jersey Department of Transporation. Friends are mourning the loss of a 53-year-old mother and wife who died in a motorcycle crash last weekend. Andrea Houlihan, 53, of Sayreville, was a passenger on her husband's Harley Davidson when a vehicle suddenly changed lanes on Route 9 in Old Bridge, bringing traffic to an abrupt halt on Sunday, Aug. 13, as previously reported by Daily Voice. A 29-year-old man from Virginia has been indicted in the fatal shooting of Sayreville Councilwoman Eunice Dwumfour Rashid Ali Bynum, of Portsmouth, Virginia was indicted on Wednesday, Aug. 16, by a Middlesex County grand jury for first-degree murder and weapons offenses, according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone. NJ Swimmer Drowned In PA Park After Saving 8-Year-Old Cousin: Coroner
A New Jersey man was found dead in a Pennsylvania lake after disappearing while swimming on Sunday, Aug. 6, officials told Daily Voice. Elisam Santana, 19, of Sayreville was swimming at Beltzville State Park in an unauthorized area of the lake, said Carbon County Coroner Gerald D. Jones Jr. Santana, the coroner said, had saved his 8-year-old cousin from drowning when he went under the water and never came back up. At Santana's autopsy on Tuesday, Aug. 8, his death was ruled an accidental drowning, Jones said.

A 28-year-old suspect from Virginia in the murder of Sayreville Councilwoman Eunice Dwumfour has been extradited to New Jersey, authorities said. Three men including two brothers were sentenced in connection with a drug investigation, authorities said. Paul Anderson, 31, of Long Branch, was sentenced to six years in New Jersey State Prison for the sale and possession of cocaine and a weapons offense, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago. Simon Anderson, 33, of Sayreville, was sentenced to 10 years in state prison for intent to sell cocaine in excess of five ounces, Santiago said.
