Pair Beat Man Then Set His Belongings On Fire At Rutgers, Campus Police Say
A man was beaten and his belongings were set on fire near the Rutgers University campus, authorities said. Two New Brunswick men were arrested Tuesday, Feb. 27 in the 2:30 p.m. Sunday attack, according to the Rutgers University Police Department. The attack reportedly followed a verbal dispute at a New Brunswick business earlier Sunday. The attackers allegedly followed the man near the Center for Vector Biology at 180 Jones Ave. at the edge of the Rutgers University campus and hit him with a blunt object, police said. Rutgers University graduate and attorney Christopher Canada of Plainfield died on Feb. 12, according to an obituary published by Higgins and Bonner Funeral Home. He was 55 years old. Sixteen Rutgers University students lost their housing and most of their belongings in a fire. On Friday, Dec. 15, an electrical fire broke out in the attic of Zeta Beta Tau’s residence on Huntington Street, just off the Rutgers College Avenue Campus in New Brunswick. Rutgers Suspends Students For Justice In Palestine
Rutgers University officials have suspended its chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine. The interim suspension of the group was based on multiple complaints of violating university policy, including disruption of classes, meals, and studying students; improper behavior by campus guests, and inappropriate use of space, according to a letter Monday, Dec. 10 from the Office of Student Affairs. Baby Python Removed From Rutgers Dorm Room
A baby python was found in a Rutgers University dormitory room. Rutgers University Police Department was called on Monday, Nov. 27 to Voorhees Residence Hall on the Cook Campus. Officer Rebecca Phillips located and safely removed a baby python from the dorm room, police said. The snake was turned over to New Brunswick Animal Control. "Students must receive approval from from the Office of Disability Services to live in university housing with support animals and unwanted animals should never be released," Rutgers police said on Facebook.

A 29-year-old Hillsborough Township man was arrested and charged on Tuesday, Nov. 21 with groping two female Rutgers students in two separate incidents the night before.
