A Berkeley Township man admitted to illegally having a gun during a traffic stop in Manchester Township, authorities said. Charles Coley, 39, pleaded guilty to certain person not to possess a firearm, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said in a news release on Wednesday, Nov. 20. Two men were hospitalized when a car and an SUV crashed in Medford, authorities said. Emergency crews responded to the crash near the intersection of Route 70 and Medford-Mt. Holly Road (Burlington County Route 541) at around 8:24 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 24, the Medford Township Police Department said in a news release on Thursday, Sept. 26. A South Toms River man was accused of leading police on a chase as they investigated a possible kidnapping in Whiting, authorities said. Thomas Stevens, 67, was arrested on Tuesday, Sept. 3, the Manchester Township Police Department said in a news release. Police are investigating after a shopper accidentally shot themselves inside an Ocean County wholesale store over the weekend, they said. Brick Township police officers responded to the Costco warehouse on Route 70 at around 1 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 21, local police said. The owner of the gun is expected to survive their injuries. Car Flips, Burns Closing Route 70 In Toms River
A car overturned and burst into flames prompting the closure of Route 70 in both directions in Toms River, authorities said. The crash occurred at about 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, March 23 near Massachusetts Avenue (Route 637), according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation. Popular Chicken Restaurant Opens In Shuttered Marlton Kmart
A wildly popular Jersey Shore chicken joint has expanded its footprint with a second location. Chicken or the Egg, commonly called simply "Chegg," has opened its Marlton location in the space formerly occupied by Kmart at Renaissance Square on Route 70. The flagship location was opened in 1991 by brothers Mark and Craig Cohen in Beach Haven on Long Beach Island. That location will be closed until Feb. 15 for winter break, the restaurant said. A 60-year-old Brick woman wasn't wearing her seatbelt when her car went off the road and hit a utility pole in Manchester Township, killing her Thursday evening, authorities said.
