14 NJ Businesses Newly-Barred From Practicing For Shortchanging Workers: DOL
An additional 14 New Jersey businesses have been barred from practicing for short-changing workers and other violations, bringing the total to 82, according to the state's Labor and Workforce Development Department. The businesses — which were named to the NJDOL’s Workplace Accountability in Labor List (the WALL) — owe a collective $956,000 in wages and penalties to the state and their employees. Chipotle To Pay New Jersey $7.75 Million For Widespread Violation Of Child Labor Laws
Chipotle Mexican Grill has agreed to pay $7.75 million to New Jersey in a settlement resolving repeated and widespread violation's of child labor laws, the state's labor department announced. A 2020 audit by the labor department found approximately 30,660 alleged violations impacting minors at New Jersey Chipotle restaurants, New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development (NJDOL) Commissioner Robert Asaro-Angelo and Attorney General Matt Platkin said. Most of New Jersey's unemployed workers will be eligible for 20 more weeks of unemployment benefits -- totaling more than a year's worth of jobless pay, authorities said.
