New Rankings Released: High School In Stafford Township Makes U.S. Top 50
Three Jersey Shore public high schools were recognized among the 100 best in the U.S., according to an education data website. Niche has released its 2025 Best Public High Schools in America list. The website said its rankings are based on "rigorous analysis of key statistics," U.S. Department of Education data, and millions of reviews from students and parents. Charges Filed Against Drunk, Speeding Teen In Crash That Killed Passenger In NJ: Prosecutor
A West Windsor teen has been accused of driving drunk and more than twice the speed limit in a crash that killed his passenger, authorities said. Rehan Jahangir, 18, was given four charges in the Tuesday, Aug. 20 crash, Acting Mercer County Prosecutor Theresa Hilto said in a news release on Tuesday, Sept. 17. Pedestrian Hit By Two Trains, Killed In Central Jersey: NJ Transit
A pedestrian was struck by two trains and killed in West Windsor Township, officials said. The person was hit by a Northeast Corridor train for the New Jersey Transit just west of Princeton Junction Station at around 9:26 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 13, an NJ Transit spokesperson said. A Bridgeton man has been arrested by U.S. Marshals in Georgia and charged with aggravated manslaughter and vehicular homicide in the fiery crash that killed there people on Route 1 in South Brunswick in April, authorities said. Charges have been upgraded for a 44-year-old Central Jersey man whose mother died a week after a gruesome attack, police said. Herbert Roberts, of Plainsboro, is believed to have attacked his 73-year-old mom, Beverly Roberts, of Princeton Junction, the afternoon of Friday, Aug. 18, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone said. A 39-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed by an Amtrak train in New Jersey, delaying rail service between Philadelphia and New York City Tuesday evening, Feb. 28, authorities said. The name of the man killed had not been released pending notification of family, said Lt. John Bresnen of the Plainsboro Police Department. The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a tornado warning in parts of Mercer, Monmouth and Middlesex counties. At 3:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 22, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Edinburg, or 7 miles east of Trenton, moving east at 45 mph, the NWS said. Locations impacted include Hightstown, Cranbury, Roosevelt, Mercerville-Hamilton Square, Edinburg, Windsor, Twin Rivers, Clearbrook Park, Princeton Junction and Concordia. People in those areas were advised to seek cover.

The pedestrian struck by a car earlier this month in Middlesex County has died, authorities said. Keith Butterfield, 66, passed away at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick on Monday evening. At 8:11 a.m. on Nov. 8, South Brunswick police responded to a pedestrian struck on New Road near the Kendall Park Fire House.
