An Asbury Park police pursuit ended with the death of one occupant, the arrests of two others and the hospitalization of a fourth, authorities confirmed Tuesday. Police ID Bicyclist Struck, Killed In Central Jersey
A bicyclist was struck and killed by a vehicle in Central Jersey, authorities said. Luis H. Loaiza-Cañas, 64, of South River, was struck shortly before 6 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24 on Old Bridge Turnpike at Milltown Road in East Brunswick, police said. Loaiza-Cañas was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have released a composite sketch of the bicyclist who hopped off to tackle a female runner to the ground and sexually assault her in Somerset County. The victim called 911 around 6 p.m. Monday, May 16 detailing the incident near Blackwells Mills Road and Canal Road in Franklin Township, Somerset County Acting Prosecutor Annmarie Taggart said. A 17-year-old was shot in Pleasantville, authorities said. The shooting occurred on Friday, April 15 at 10:26 a.m., a police department spokeswoman said. Authorities are investigating a shooting that took place in Perth Amboy. On Friday, Feb. 11 at 5:24 P.M., Perth Amboy police responded to the train tracks near New Brunswick Avenue for a shooting.
