A correctional police officer assigned as a guard at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution has been charged with providing a cell phone to an inmate, authorities said. Latonya C. Johnson, 51, of Piscataway is charged with knowingly providing an electronic communication device to an inmate. A freight train struck a car injuring its driver in Middlesex County, NJ Advance Media reports. The unidentified woman was taken to a local hospital after the crash, which occurred about 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, at a South Avenue crossing, the outlet said, quoting Piscataway police. Rutgers University issued a campus alert saying it was looking for a possible armed suspect. The alert went out at 3:38 p.m. Thursday, May 19 near Hospital Road and Metlars Lane on the Livingston Campus.
