Burn Victim Airlifted, Two Others Injured In Ocean County House Fire
Three people were injured, including a man who suffered very serious burns, when a house caught fire in Ocean County, authorities said. Berkeley Township firefighters and police officers responded to a house fire on Berkeley Avenue at around 8:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 7, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said. When first responders arrived, they found heavy flames at the front of the home and all three people outside. One man was airlifted to Jefferson Health Burn Center in Philadelphia. Family and loved ones are mourning the death of a teen from Toms River. A GoFundMe page was created in the memory of Diego Rodriguez Garibaldi, who died on Friday, Jan. 26 at 19 years old, according to his obituary. The memorial fundraiser was created after a car crash sent Rodriguez Garibaldi to the hospital. Details in the crash were not immediately available. Despite no rain or snow expected for the week ahead, forecasters are warning residents about the threat of coastal flooding across New Jersey. The National Weather Service said South Jersey will have a threat of minor flooding through 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 8. A coastal flood advisory was issued for Tuesday, Feb. 6 in Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Ocean, and Salem counties. Heroin Kingpin Who Ran Fatal Drug Ring From Atlantic County Jail Eligible For Parole In 9 Years
A man who ran a heroin-selling network from the Atlantic County Jail was sentenced, authorities said. Emery Chapman, 44, of Pleasantville, was sentenced to 21 years in state prison, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office announced on Friday, Feb. 2. Chapman will be eligible for parole after nine years and once he's released, he'll have five years of "intensive parole supervision" under the No Early Release Act. 'Lost Everything:' 20 People Without Homes In Wildwood Apartment Fire
A fire ripped through an apartment in Cape May County, leaving 20 people without homes, including a man and his pregnant wife. Wildwood firefighters were called to the building at 319 East Juniper Avenue just before 6 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 22, the city's fire department said. The building has six apartments on two floors. An ex-con who was captured after a 15-year-old victim escaped from a South Jersey hotel room was indicted on a host of charges that include human trafficking, promoting prostitution and sexually assaulting minors, authorities announced on Thursday.
