Downed Lines Disrupt Amtrak, NJ Transit Service Between NJ, Penn Station
It's certainly not convenient. Amtrak and NJ Transit customers were livid over service disruptions between Penn Station and Newark due to downed power lines blocking the tracks on Wednesday evening, May 22. In a statement posted to X, Amtrak said service was stopped at 5:36 p.m. with no estimation of restoration. As of 10 p.m., widespread delays were being reported by Amtrak. Female Struck, Killed By Train In Monmouth County
A person was struck and killed by a train just before the Red Bank station Saturday morning, NJ Transit officials said. North Jersey Coastline Train 7216 struck the female pedestrian at 8:10 a.m. -- four minutes after leaving the Long Branch Station, NJT Spokesman Jim Smith said. Service was suspended between Little Silver and Middletown, with bus service offered as a substitution. None of the 37 customers or crew were injured, Smith said. The train was scheduled to arrive at Penn Station at 9:43 a.m. Local and NJ Transit police were on scene investigating.

CT Man Indicted For Shooting At Police Officer, Fleeing Ocean County Stop After Kidnapping GF
A Connecticut man who authorities said fired at a police officer following a Jersey Shore traffic stop was indicted on attempted murder, kidnapping and other charges, authorities said. Miguel Angel-Villegas, 29, of New Haven had threatened to kill his then-girlfriend if she didn't drive him from Connecticut to New Jersey, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said.
