A married father from Paterson sexually abused a child over the past five years, authorities charged. Giovani Aguilar, 35, was arrested after Special Victims Unit detectives interviewed the victim and others, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said. The victim, now 13, “disclosed being sexual assaulted by [Aguilar] since the age of 8” at a residence in Paterson, she said. An ex-con from Paterson pulled a gun and shot another city man -- while threatening to kill a local woman -- during an argument, authorities charged. Paterson police captured Calvin Holmes, 34, in the area of North York Street and Sparrow Street on New Year’s Eve, several hours after the 3:15 p.m. shooting at Rosa Parks Boulevard and 12th Avenue. A Paterson man was charged with first-degree murder in the death of a 2-year-old child. Ricardo Rivera, 30, remained held Thursday in the Passaic County Jail following his arrest the day before, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said. UPDATE: Bail reform is one of the key reasons why the half-empty Passaic County Jail will close its doors for good and send all of its current and future inmates to Bergen County's lockup, officials said. Detectives seized a Paterson man after watching him sell crack on one of the Silk City's deadliest drug corners, authorities said. City detectives moved in after seeing Tony Williams, 23, sling bags of crack at Godwin Avenue and Summer Street, Public Safety Director Jerry Speziale said. An 18-year-old Hackensack man became the second defendant charged in the cold-blooded killing of a 20-year-old Paterson resident on a Silk City street corner.
