Former Cape May Boy Scout Volunteer Who Sexually Assaulted Child Sentenced, Prosecutors Say A North Cape May man who was once a Boy Scouts of America volunteer will spend more than two decades in prison for sexually assaulting a child, authorities said. John Gillespie Jr., 37, was sentenced on Friday, Oct. 18 to 25 years in state prison, Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland said in a news release. Gillespie pleaded guilty on Friday, July 12 to first-degree aggravated sexual assault and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child. Woman Found Dead After House Fire In Cape May County: Prosecutor Authorities are investigating the death of a woman whose remains were found after a house fire in Cape May County. The unidentified woman was found Sunday, Feb. 6 in a home destroyed by fire at 224 Suzane Road in North Cape May, according to Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Atlantic City Bomb Squad Removes Unexploded Grenade From Yard Sale Police in South Jersey were called to Shore Drive in North Cape May on Saturday on a report of a hand grenade found at a yard sale.  Lower Township Police determined that the hand grenade was unexploded and immediately evacuated the area of Shore Drive between Racetrack Drive and Folsom Drive, according to an alert.
