A South Jersey high school carnival has been cut short by a series of fights, arrests, and an assault on a police officer. Large crowds comprised mostly of people from other towns descended on the Washington Township High School Football & Marching Band Spring Carnival in Gloucester County Friday night, April 14. : Authorities ID Three Seniors Killed In Clifton House Fire
A 95-year-old woman and two fellow residents – 71 and 65 – were identified Saturday as the victims found dead in a Clifton house fire. Three firefighters, a Clifton police officer and a fourth resident also were injured in the blaze in a corner house on Ladwick Lane at Renaissance Drive near Van Houten Avenue in the city’s Athenia section on Nov. 18, authorities said. Overnight Fire Severely Damages Norwood Home
Flames blew through the roof of a Norwood home near the Rockland County border. Firefighters battled extreme cold and slippery conditions to douse the upper-floor bedroom blaze, which broke out on Broadway just off Piermont Road around 2 a.m. Sunday. No serious injuries were immediately reported. Mutual aid responders either at the scene or in coverage included firefighters from Harrington Park, Closter, Demarest, Northvale and Old Tappan. : Mahwah Firefighters Rush From Rockland Brush Blaze To Local House Fire
Mahwah firefighters were helping their colleagues from Hillburn, Sloatsburg and Tallan douse a brush fire in a remote wooded area of Rockland on Sunday when a house fire broke out nearby in town. The fire, which originated in the kitchen, was quickly knocked down, although it did cause some damage. Mutual aid was provided by firefighters from Ramsey, Franklin Lakes, Allendale, Saddle River, Upper Saddle River and Suffern. No injuries were reported. : Fire Ravages Elmwood Park Multi-Family Home
An Elmwood Park multi-family home went up in flames Saturday night. Responders were met by flames and heavy smoke at the Fournier Crescent home just after 8:30 p.m. Hoarding conditions contributed to the extent of the two-alarm fire, which quickly spread to the attic, they said. One firefighter was injured, though not seriously, responders said. Two cats may have been lost.
