'Shocked And Disgusted': 8 Injured In Newark Shootings, Police Say
Eight people were injured in a series of Newark shootings Tuesday night, authorities said. The first incident happened around 6:25 p.m. near Lincoln Street and Court Street, local and county officials said. Two men were injured, including one critically. Just before 8:10 p.m., two boys, ages 15 and 17, were found by police having been shot while riding in a stolen car in the area of Quitman Street near Montgomery Street. Man, Teen Wearing Ankle Monitor Arrested In Shooting Of 9-Year-Old Girl In Newark
A 22-year-old man and 15-year-old girl previously arrested last month in a Newark carjacking were charged in connection with last week's shooting of a 9-year-old girl in Newark. The victim's 16-year-old sister and her 15-year-old friend had gotten into an argument on June 30 around 5:25 p.m., Newark Public Safety Director Brian A. O’Hara said. Body-worn camera footage captured a violent attack on a pair of Newark police officers that led to the arrest of four men earlier this week.
