Rite Aid, the pharmacy giant that filed for bankruptcy on Sunday, Oct. 15, plans to close 154 underperforming stores nationwide, according to a new filing. Drunk South Jersey Woman Found With Heroin, Gun In Suburban Philly, Police Say
A New Jersey woman was arrested after police say they found her with drugs and a gun after stopping her for public intoxication in the Philadelphia suburbs. Officers on drug surveillance stopped Colleen L. Brooks, 32, of Mantua, in the 1400 block of Chester Pike in Sharon Hill when they noticed she appeared drunk on Tuesday, Aug. 16, they said. During her arrest, cops looked through her backpack and found suspected heroin, drug packaging, and a handgun, police said. A South Jersey accused of killing a veterinary nurse was taken into custody after a man he demanded a ride from at gunpoint convinced him to go into a garage in Philadelphia, while he called police, authorities said. Andrew Kramer, 31, was initially charged with stealing 38-year-old Melissa Malcolm's car and debit card, Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina said. A 45-year-old pedestrian was killed when he tried to cross a busy five-lane highway in South Jersey, authorities said. The crash occurred on Friday at 8:29 p.m, in the 700 block of Mullica Hill Road (Route 322), according to Harrison Township police. John M. Johnston of Paulsboro attempted to cross Mullica Hill Road where there are three eastbound lanes and two westbound lanes, Harrison police said. An accused porch pirate who Bergenfield police caught in the act went right back to the same neighborhood and began casing vehicles for burglaries hours after being released, authorities said.
