Brick Son Faces Life-In-Prison In Father's 'Murder-For-Hire', Ocean County Prosecutor Says
A 30-year-old man from Ocean County has been indicted in connection with his father's alleged murder-for-hire, authorities said. Mark J. Austin, 30, of Brick Township, was charged Thursday with murder and weapons offenses, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer. The son faces life in prison without parole if found guilty of murder-for-hire, the prosecutor said. Burlington County Motorcyclist, 32, Killed In Jersey Shore Crash
A 32-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a Jersey Shore crash on Tuesday, authorities said. Philip Gurganious, of Browns Mills, was heading north on County Route 539 when he left the roadway near Lincoln Boulevard and struck a utility pole around 6:45 p.m., Manchester police say. Gurganious' 2019 Yamaha XSR was in the shoulder of the northbound side when police arrived. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A 21-year-old Jersey Shore man was arrested for failing to register as a sex offender under Megan's Law, authorities said Wednesday Ralph Downey, Jr., of Manchester, was arrested on Sept. 28, after failing to meet his annual registration requirement with any law enforcement agencies, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. A 37-year-old motorist from Ocean County was killed in a head-on crash while passing another vehicle, authorities said. The driver who was killed, from New Eqypt, has not been identified pending notification of family, according to Plumsted police. A 36-year-old man from Ocean County has been sentenced to 15 years in state prison for secretly stowing cocaine and assorted other drugs in his car, authorities said.
