$500 Million Open-Air Redevelopment Of Monmouth Mall Begins
A more than $500 million project to transform a Monmouth County mall into an open-air town center has officially begun, officials said. A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Thursday, May 9 at the Monmouth Mall in Eatontown, developer Kushner said in a news release on Monday, May 13. The mall will be redeveloped into a modern center with luxury apartments, new retail options, and medical office space called Monmouth Square. Kushner said the project to "de-mall" the property off Route 35 will bring a new purpose to the historic Monmouth Mall, which has been open for 64 years. …

Macy's plans to close about 30 percent of its remaining stores over the next three years. Nearly 50K Massage Guns Sold Nationwide Recalled Due To Fire, Burn Hazards
Nearly 50,000 massage guns sold at major retailers across the country are being recalled due to more than a dozen reports of overheating and a burn injury. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced this week that Homedics is recalling tens of thousands of personal massagers that ca overheat while charging, leading to a report of fire or burn risk. Compactor Fire Clears Route 4 Mall
The Shops at Riverside off Route 4 in Hackensack was evacuated Tuesday as city firefighters doused a compactor blaze. Sprinklers temporarily kept the fire in check before firefighters took over on the Macy's loading dock beneath the parking garage shortly before 2 p.m. A DPW truck pulled the contractor out so they could extinguish the blaze. Home goods retailer Tuesday Morning is the latest national outlet to seek bankruptcy protection, company officials said. Tuesday Morning's closing is a result of the "immense strain of the COVID-19 pandemic," the Dallas-based retail chain said in a statement.
