Lightning Strikes Jersey Shore Church, Homes In Mid-Morning Storm A severe thunderstorm triggered multiple house fires and downed trees in Monmouth and Ocean counties Wednesday morning. A church was struck by lightning in Little Egg Harbor Township, and trees struck at least two homes on the 100 block of Hickory Lane in the Lincroft section of Middletown.  Power was cut as one tree crashed through a roof, fire officials said. Update: Lightning Strikes, High Winds Ravage Toms River UPDATED: All Toms River Fire companies are out throughout the township for numerous storm-related calls, authorities said. Beginning about 3 p.m. Tuesday, firefighters and EMS personnel were called to three structures hit by lightning. One home caught fire on Riverbrook Court, a fire dispatcher said. Numerous trees are down including on a home on Twin Oaks Drive.
