Hunter Mistakenly Kills PA Family's Wolf-Like Dog
A hunter who mistakenly killed a Pennsylvania family's dog thinking he was a coyote will not face charges, state officials tell the Philadelphia Inquirer. The 8-year-old malamute mix named "Hunter" was adopted over the summer by the Heller family, of Richmond Township in Berks County, from the Howling Woods Farm in Jackson, NJ, Jennifer Heller tells Daily Voice. The farm cares for dogs with wolves in their family history, its website says, and aims to educate the public on wolf dogs. Jennifer Heller told the story on social media, explaining her husband, Chris Heller, left to walk the dog …

Five New Tiger Cubs Born At Six Flags Wild Safari
Siberian tiger Nadya gave birth to an extremely rare litter of five furry cubs at Six Flags Wild Safari. While most tiger births range from two to four cubs, this uncommon birth is also significant because as an endangered species, Nadya’s litter is equivalent to 1 percent of the world’s wild Siberian tiger population, park officials said. Siberian tigers, also known as Amur tigers, are critically endangered with an estimated wild population of only 500 due to poaching, hunting and habitat loss. As the largest cats in the world, they average 11 feet long with a three-foot tail. Despite orig…

Hunt's 42-year-old hunting partner was crossing a creek when he fell on his .270 rifle shooting Hunt in the abdomen, according to the report. Hunt was a police lieu…

ALARM: Report Of Gunman On Loose In New Milford Unfounded
A report of a gunman in camo pants and a hoodie on the loose in New Milford -- which triggered a lockdown of all borough schools Thursday morning -- thankfully was proven unfounded, Police Chief Brian Clancy said. "It was a hunter walking to his car," Clancy said. "He is hunting out of state, not in New Milford. There is absolutely no threat." Borough schools were placed on lockdown and then sheltered in place as police investigated what turned out to be a rumor that a man carrying an assault rifle -- and possibly two -- was seen on Hoffman Avenue near the Berkeley Street Elementa…

Bucks County Hunter Surrenders Months After Shooting That Killed 18-Year-Old Jason Kutt
Authorities on Wednesday announced the arrest of a 52-year-old man in the deadly October shooting of 18-year-old Jason Albert Kutt in Nockamixon State Park. Kenneth Troy Heller, 52, of Warminster, surrendered to authorities on Dec. 30, Bucks County District Attorney Matt Weintraub said. "Clearly this isn’t a perfect ending,” he said. “Perfect would mean we have Jason back. But that’s just not how real life works, that’s not how criminal justice works, so this isn’t even really a happy ending, but it is a fair and a just and a final ending.” Kutt, of Sellersville, was sitting wit…

A 38-year-old off-duty police officer was shot and killed Tuesday when a juvenile accidentally fired off a weapon while the pair were hunting in Sussex County, Daily Voice has learned. Hamburg police officer Jason Franco, of Montague, was deer hunting near Havens and Lott roads in Wantage around 12:30 p.m. when the incident occurred, according to local and state police. Franco was pronounced dead at the scene, "after an unintentional discharge of a weapon held by a juvenile while deer hunting in a group," said Lawrence Hajna, of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Prot…
