Trackside Sportsbook With Shake Shack Coming To Monmouth Park In 2025
A Monmouth County horse track has begun a large expansion project to keep up with the growth of the sports gambling industry. Monmouth Park and Caesars Entertainment have started building a new trackside sportsbook and entertainment complex, according to a news release. A groundbreaking ceremony was held at the Oceanport track on Tuesday, May 7. The new facility is expected to open in 2025 with 16,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space for watching sports. 'An Absolute Character': Entertaining South Jersey Horse Racing Announcer Dies, 67
A longtime South Jersey racetrack announcer known for his playful, entertaining flair died after a 13-year battle with brain cancer, officials said. Larry Lederman died at 67 years old on Tuesday, Mar. 5, the U.S. Trotting Association (USTA) announced in a news release. The East Windsor resident was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor in 2011. The native New Yorker was introduced to harness racing by his father, a Manhattan business owner who enjoyed going to the Yonkers and Roosevelt raceways. Murphy Allows Reopening Of NJ Child Care Centers, Non-Contact Sports, Day Camps
Summer in New Jersey is starting to take shape. New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy on Friday announced he will be signing an executive order allowing child care services, organized sports practices and youth day camps to resume over the next several weeks. Murphy also anticipates being able to raise the limits on indoor gatherings in a way that would allow for greater religious services for the weekend of June 12. Coronavirus Kills 3 Members Of Same NJ Family, Three More Critical
A New Jersey mother of 11 and grandmother of 27 became the third member of her family to die after contracting the coronavirus. The infections were connected to New Jersey's first coronavirus fatality because of horse racing. Grave Fusco, the 73-year-old family matriarch from Freehold, didn't know that one of her sons died hours earlier, or that her daughter, Rita Fusco-Jackson, had died five days earlier.
