Man Dies Saving Two Children From Drowning In South Jersey River: Fundraiser A Mays Landing man was remembered as a hero after dying while saving two children from drowning in the Great Egg Harbor River, according to a fundraising campaign. A GoFundMe page said Pablo Hernandez Cruz died at Weymouth Furnace County Park in Hamilton Township on Wednesday, July 17. South Jersey Drowning Victim, 23, Identified Authorities have released the name of a 23-year-old man who reportedly drowned in a popular but hazardous stretch of water in Weymouth Furnace Park. The man's body was recovered from Great Egg Harbor River in the Mays Landing section of Hamilton Township about two hours after he disappeared on Sunday, reports said.  The drowning victim has been identified as Carlos Alvarado of Hammonton, authorities said.
