UPDATE: Lyndhurst Schools Supt. Joseph A. DeCorso announced that a group of high school seniors who staged a harmless prank earlier this week can walk at graduation Wednesday night. Prom Is On But Dancing May Be Cancelled For This New Jersey High School
Area high schools are planning for graduations and proms -- but COVID-19 still poses some problems, administrators say. If an in-person prom goes ahead at Clearview Regional High School in Gloucester Township, for instance, dancing will not be allowed, according to Principal Keith Brooks. Murphy OKs In-Person Graduation Ceremonies
New Jersey graduates will be getting a ceremony this year, after all. Gov. Phil Murphy on Tuesday announced he is allowing high schools and colleges to hold outdoor graduation ceremonies that comply with social distancing. The move goes into effect July 6. "To the Class of 2020, I am proud to say that you will have your opportunity to join with your classmates and families to celebrate your graduation," the governor said in his daily press briefing.
