A Hackensack mom was arrested after she entered a Bogota school, pulled a fire alarm and ran down the street, authorities said. Marcela Gonzalez, 36, was seized her near the Lillian M. Steen Elementary School on West Main Street shortly after 2:30 p.m. last Wednesday, March 1, Police Sgt. Geoffrey Cole said. Gonzalez apparently “rang the doorbell for the school stating she wanted to pick her child up,” Cole said. Then she pulled the fire alarm at the entrance and ran, he said. Active Shooter Alert Unfounded In South Jersey
Police in South Jersey said a report of an active shooter at a high school turned out to be false. Lower Township Police, along with other agencies, responded to Lower Cape May Regional High School for the report of an active shooter. "It was very quickly determined that the call was unfounded and there was no threat and the school returned to regularly scheduled classes and activities," Lower Township police said.

The driver of a stolen car stopped by Wayne police called in a bomb threat at the Macy’s in the Willowbrook Mall in the hopes of distracting them, authorities charged. Capt. Throngs of panicked mall goers fled the Garden State Plaza in Paramus after someone claimed to have seen a man with a gun, authorities said. "It started with large groups of juveniles. A suspected drug dealer was out for revenge when he made an unfounded call that caused Howell police to stop an innocent family, authorities said. Frederick T. A Pizza Hut employee wanted a pay raise, so he made up a story about chasing off an armed robber, police said. Joseph Baude, 30, of Ocean Township was charged with creating a false alarm and making a false report, Howell police said. A school in Monmouth County was locked down Thursday afternoon, according to reports. Marlboro Township police confirmed they were called to CPC High Point School in Morganville at 3 p.m. for an unknown incident, but could not report any other details.
