: Couple From Englewood, Teaneck Save Saddle Brook Residents From Fire
Doorbells ringing in the middle of the night startled sleeping residents of a Saddle Brook neighborhood. What the sleepy-eyed homeowners found at 1:30 a.m. Saturday were two good Samaritans who'd been driving by and saw some trees on fire. Matthew Blackwell of Teaneck and Donnae Cushnie of Englewood, both 24, first dialed 911, then made sure residents in the Midland Avenue townhouse community were aware of the danger. : Tractor Trailer Driver Airlifted After Overturning On Route 287 In Edison
UPDATED: A 59-year-old driver was extricated from his overturned cement truck in Edison and airlifted to a local hospital, authorities said. Police, firefighters and EMS responded to the southbound side of Route 287 along the ramp to the New Jersey Turnpike about 10 a.m. Friday, state troopers said. The driver, who's name was not released, was awake at the time of transport and the ramp remains closed, Sgt. Lawrence Peele, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said on Friday afternoon. EMS, Firefighters Respond To Multiple Crashes In Jackson
UPDATE: Firefighters, EMS crews and police were called to two separate, serious crashes in Ocean County shortly before 4 p.m. Friday, authorities said. A fatal crash on Interstate-195 at 3:45 p.m. was being investigated by New Jersey state troopers. That crash, involving an overturned tractor-trailer, was at mile-marker 21 near Six Flags Great Adventure amusement park, Jackson Township police said on Facebook. Tree Worker From Bergenfield Falls To Death In Ridgewood
A tree worker fell to his death Thursday in Ridgewood. The 35-year-old Bergenfield worker for Arrow Tree Service in Old Tappan was nearly 30 feet up when he fell and tree limb landed on top of him at a Waiku Road home off Carlton Terrace at 8:40 a.m., Police Chief Jacqueline Luthcke said. He was killed instantly, responders said. Village police, firefighters and ALS and BLS units responded. Our condolences go out to his family, friends and co-workers.

UPDATE: A wind-whipped two-alarm fire is consuming a structure in the 600 block of Ridge Road in Middlesex County, authorities said. The New Jersey Forest Fire Service declared Tuesday a "Class 5 Day, Extreme Fire Danger" for Division B in Central New Jersey due to high winds and low relative humidity. . A morning fire ravaged an Orange multi-family home Tuesday. Firefighters found heavy flames on all floors of the three-story Park Street home shortly after 6:30 a.m. The blaze went to three alarms less than an hour later and was knocked down about a half-hour after that. Man Struck By Rockland-To-Hoboken Train
A man was hospitalized after he was struck by a commuter train Sunday night in Paterson. The Main Line #1732 train had left Suffern at 9:07 p.m. and was due to arrive in Hoboken at 10:19 p.m. when it struck the man just west of the Paterson train station shortly before 10 p.m., NJ Transit’s Lisa Torbic said. Responders said they got the victim out from under the train and took him to nearby St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center. None of the 16 people were injured and service wasn’t affected, Torbic said. NJ Transit police were investigating, she said.

Fire Ravages Mahwah Townhouse Complex
Fire ravaged multiple units of a Mahwah townhouse complex early Friday evening. Occupants all got out safely and no injuries were immediately reported. The three-alarm fire broke out in the Dickinson Manor condominiums in the Fardale section of town shortly after 5 p.m. Township firefighters moved quickly and in sizable numbers from the front and rear of the building to prevent the blaze from doing more serious damage. SUV Rolls On Garden State Parkway
A driver walked away with a minor injury after an SUV rollover crash on the Garden State Parkway, responders said. Route 40 In Hamilton Closed Due To Multi-Car Crash
Route 40 is closed in both directions between Old Egg Harbor Road and Cantillon Boulevard due to a motor vehicle crash, authorities said. Motorists are asked to avoid the area and seek an alternate route, Hamilton township police said in an alert. The collusion occurred about 7:30 a.m. near Meadowbrook drive.
