More Than 2K Customers Lose Power In Central Jersey More than 2,000 customers were without power in Monmouth County, officials said. According to the outage map for Jersey Central Power & Light, 1,172 customers in Wall Township and 920 customers in Belmar lost service as of 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Apr. 16. That accounts for about 20 percent of Belmar customers and about nine percent of Wall customers. In a Facebook post, Belmar police said a JCP&L crew was responding to the outage. More Than 500 Without Power In Monmouth County More than 500 customers were without electricity in Monmouth County, authorities said. There were 557 Monmouth County homes and businesses blacked out at about 11:30 a.m., Thursday May 4, JCP&L reported. Part of the problem was blamed on an electric substation in Howell, according to an unconfirmed report. Middlesex County, meanwhile, had 377 electric customers without power at 11:30 a.m., JCP&L said. Meanwhile, the National Weather Service issued coastal flood watch advisories.

21 Vehicles Destroyed In Ridgefield Fire Live wires temporarily kept firefighters from dousing flames that destroyed 21 vehicles on a lot off Broad Avenue in Ridgefield. A wire downed in Thursday night's storm ignited two vehicles in the depot, filled with hundreds of new vehicles, next to Metro Fuel on Hudson Avenue near H Mart, authorities said. Firefighters found two vehicles fully involved with live wires arcing over them, blocking initial suppression efforts.
