A Bergen County school district is ending its consulting contract with a self-described "woke" federal agency chief who has made publicly disparaging comments about whites. The comments made by Kelisa Wing -- including her being "exhausted at these white folx" -- ignited calls for her ouster last week as the chief officer for diversity, equity and inclusion in the U.S. Department of Defense's education branch. Visitor Charged With Scrawling Racist Slurs On Rowan University Dorm Door
The person who wrote racial slurs on the dorm room door of a black student at Rowan University has been charged with harassment and banned from campus, officials said. In this message to the university, Rowan President Ali A. Houshmand said investigators identified two people involved in the incident at Holly Pointe Commons. They were visitors, not Rowan students, he said. The person who wrote the slur was charged after an investigation by Rowan police and the state Attorney General’s Office bias crime unit, Houshmand said. ‘Teacher of the Year’ and devoted South Jersey mom Erin Semus died at her home in Williamstown on Tuesday, Aug. 16 following a brief illness. She was 39. A native of Vineland, Erin attended St. Mary Elementary School before graduating as the Valedictorian of her 2001 class at the Sacred Heart School, her obituary says. Erin then went on to earn her B.A. in Elementary Education and a Minor in Music at Rowan University before starting her teaching career at the Vineland School District, where she stayed for a total of 17 years, according to her memorial. The pregnant wife of a Pennsylvania firefighter died in a car crash last week, authorities said. Kellie Adams, of Lansdale, and the baby girl she was expecting with husband Jason died in a crash on Thursday, Aug. 25, according to her obituary. Kellie and Jason, married for eight years, also shared two boys together. Jason is a firefighter in Upper Providence Township.
