Woman Caught In Rip Tide Drowns At Island Beach State Park: Report
The body of a 59-year-old swimmer was recovered after being swept away by a rip tide off the Jersey Shore, NJ Advance Media reported. The woman's body was found at 11:05 a.m. Tuesday, June 14 at Island Beach State Park after she went missing Monday night while with her husband, the outlet said, quoting the U.S. Coast Guard and State Park Police. Monday afternoon, June 13, a 24-year-old Lake Hopatcong man died after being pulled from the water by lifeguards while swimming off Belmar Beach. The body of a drowned swimmer was found off the Jersey Shore in Belmar after several others were rescued, authorities said. Belmar lifeguards and Water Rescue members rushed to the area off the 8th Avenue jetty around 12:30 p.m. Monday after beachgoers tried in vain to rescue a group of distressed swimmers, police said. A 53-year-old man from Pennsylvania drowned while swimming at a Wildwood Crest beach, authorities said. Joel Green of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, was found unresponsice by other swimmers who pulled him from the water about 4 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7, Tuesday Wildwood Crest police said.
