Feds: Jersey Shore Dealer Convicted Of Selling Cocaine, Crack In Monmouth, Ocean Counties
An ex-con was convicted in federal court of selling cocaine and crack along the Jersey Shore, authorities said. Damion “Checks” Helmes, 42, of Cliffwood was the last of 20 defendants convicted of peddling the drug throughout Monmouth County and into Ocean County. Jurors in U.S. District Court in Trenton found Helmes guilty of various drug-dealing charges while acquitting him of two gun offenses following a two-week trial. Wawa convenience stores in Bucks County are reducing their night time hours and two Philadelphia stores have closed in response to a perceived increase in crime, multiple outlets report. The Wawa locations in Northampton and Lower Southampton will no longer be open from midnight to 5 a.m., a representative for the chain said, according to reports. Scooter-Riding Fugitive Busted By US Marshals On Jersey Shore: Authorities
A 35-year-old Jersey Shore man wanted for spraying Lysol in a victim's face before stabbing him in the chest and robbing him was captured by US Marshals, the service announced. Philip Gross was taken into custody with help from local police after he was spotted riding an electric scooter on Atkins Avenue in Asbury Park Tuesday, Oct. 18, the US Marshals' New York / New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force said. Brick Man Charged With Uploading Child Pornography With Kik App: Prosecutor
A 35-year-old man from Brick Township has been charged with possessing child pornography, authorities said. Christopher Budelman was charged on Sept. 27, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer. This investigation was the result of a referral from the New Jersey State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. A thief was steps from fleeing with a fellow traveler's wedding band at Newark Airport when TSA and Port Authority officers teamed up to catch him, authorities said. Man Shot Near Ewing Waste Management Plant, Police Say
A man was rushed to the hospital after being shot near a waste management plant in Ewing early on Monday, Sept. 26, authorities said. Officers responding to a report of a shooting near 432 Stokes Ave. found the victim with a gunshot wound to the leg just after 6:05 a.m., Ewing Police said in a press release.
