Baseball icon Mariano Rivera and his wife are both named in a new lawsuit alleging that the couple did not protect a young victim from being sexually abused by members of a Westchester-based church, some of which happened at their home. The lawsuit, filed in New York Supreme Court in Westchester County on Thursday, Jan. 16, alleges that a child referred to as "Jane A Doe" because of her young age was sexually abused by two people affiliated with New Rochelle-based Refuge of Hope Church. NJ Man Sues FanDuel
A Bergen County man has filed a lawsuit against online sports betting website FanDuel alleging the company breached its own policy and failed to pay him his full winnings after he pulled out of an active bet. Michael Wadlow, 35, of Upper Saddle River (and soon Ramsey), filed the suit on Oct. 4 in New Jersey Superior Court alleging he self-excluded from a bet with a $5,800 cash-out option and was only refunded his inital $500 wager. Amber Heard Found Guilty On All Defamation Charges Against Johnny Depp
A Fairfax County jury found Amber Heard guilty on all defamation charges against her ex-husband Johnny Depp on Wednesday, June 1. The seven-person jury said Heard "acted with malice" when she made several defamatory statements about Depp in a Washington Post article in 2018 in which Heard described being a victim of domestic violence. Depp had previously sued Heard for $50 million over the allegations and Heard countersued for $100 million. Depp was successfully able to prove that he did not abuse Heard despite her allegations.
