Here's How Long Smoky South Jersey Air Caused By Weekslong Wildfire Will Last Residents in Ocean and Burlington counties can expect smoky skies due to a wildfire that's been burning since early July, the New Jersey Forest Fire Service said on Sunday, Aug. 25. Fire is consuming the interior, unburnt pockets within the are of the Tea Time Hill Wildfire, the NJFFS said. Communities most impacted by the smoke include Chatsworth, Washington Township, and Woodland Township in Burlington County, and Barnegat Township in Ocean County. The fire has also burned down into the duff layer of soil causing additional smoke – this is especially common with summer fires. Air Force Family Recovering After South Jersey Fire An Air Force couple's family has been living at a military base since a fire destroyed their home in Burlington County. Last Monday, May 15, Bob and Kim Dotson and their two young daughters were displaced by the six-alarm fire. Bob is a master sergeant and Kim is a captain in the Air Force at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. A neighbor, Jesse Estlow of Woodland Township, organized a GoFundMe to help the family, who lost everything in the fire. South Jersey Man Thought He Was Chatting With Teenage Girl: Prosecutor A Burlington County man has been arrested and charged with seeking a sexual encounter with an underage girl, authorities said. Hazleton Newman, 31, of Chatsworth, was charged with luring, child endangerment and attempted sexual assault on a minor, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago. An investigation revealed that Newman was attempting to set up a sexual encounter with who he believed to be a 14-year-old girl via electronic platforms and other forms of communication, Santiago said. Tornado Warning For Burlington, Camden, Ocean Counties The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for northwestern Burlington and central Camden counties until 4 p.m.  A similar warning was issued for Crestwood Village and Chatsworth in Ocean County until 4:30 p.m. The storm system had weakened as it headed into New Jersey, the NWS said. A severe wind and hail warning was issued for Trenton and Hamilton Square, NJ and Levittown, PA, until 4:30 p.m. Severe thunderstorm warnings with high winds and hail were issued for Lakewood, Browns Mills and Pine Lake Park until 4:30 p.m. A tornado was possible, the NWS said.
