'Alarming' Surge In Homicides Prompts Atlantic City Police Union's Request For More Officers After four homicides in Atlantic City in the first week of 2024, the city's police union is calling for more officers to handle the "recent surge" in violence. Man Accused Of Grisly New Year's Day Murder In Atlantic City A Cape May County man has been charged with stabbing another man to death in Atlantic City on New Year's Day. Atlantic County prosecutors said 30-year-old Vincent Oglesby of Woodbine was arrested in Pleasantville at around 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 3. Oglesby is accused of killing 50-year-old Richard Vincent O'Brien III by stabbing him in the neck. Atlantic City police found O'Brien bleeding on the unit block of South California Avenue just after 6 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 1. Atlantic City Shopkeeper, 66, Dies During Armed Robbery By 12-Year-Old Boy A 66-year-old businessman from Atlantic City collapsed and died when his store was robbed at knifepoint, authorities said.  Mahmood Ansari was robbed at his store by two youths on Thursday night, according to Atlantic City Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner.
