Eight defendants admitted their roles in a Lucchese crime family-linked gambling and money laundering enterprise, state officials announced Tuesday, June 23.
The defendants are among 42 people indicted following April 2025 arrests that capped a two-year investigation into alleged illegal gambling, loansharking, extortion, and money laundering operations tied to the Lucchese crime family, according to New Jersey Attorney General Jennifer Davenport said.

Miller shared details of the crash and his injuries in a social media post on Tuesday, June 23. The 42-year-old said he was airlifted to a hospital in Joplin, Missouri, where he underwent a life-saving amputation.

A 56-year-old Long Beach Township man was arrested and charged with DWI after he drove to police headquarters, authorities announced Monday, June 22.
On Thursday, June 18, a vehicle approached the Long Beach Township Police Department Headquarters through an entrance meant for emergency vehicles only, law enforcement said.

A familiar comedy name is facing a serious legal spotlight far from the stage.
Carlos Mencia, 58, has been charged with 12 felony counts of state tax evasion after prosecutors said he failed to report $8.7 million in personal and corporate income from 2019 through 2024, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced in releasing the complaint arrest warrant.

Xfinity users reported a sharp spike in service problems on Monday afternoon, June 22, with more than 25,000 logged on Downdetector.com.
A Downdetector chart showed 25,541 reports at about 4:15 p.m., far above the normal baseline for Xfinity by Comcast.

The names of the three people killed in a Maryland plane crash over the weekend have been identified.
Yoav Bomrind, 26, of Israel, was identified as the pilot, according to Maryland State Police. The two passengers were David Rabinovitz, 19, of Israel, and Elad Neidik, 20, of Canada. All three were pronounced dead at the scene Sunday, June 21.
