Two men have been arrested while one remains at large after fleeing from a stolen BMW that they crashed during a pursuit in Paramus , authorities said. Paramus Office Slavko Bajovic spotted a white BMW X4 driving carelessly along Route 17 north near Midland Avenue around 8:25 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, Paramus Police Chief Robert Guidetti said. A 45-year-old Easton, PA man was killed in a motorcycle crash on Route 78 in New Jersey on Tuesday, July 2, authorities said. At 10:04 p.m., a BMW motorcycle traveling eastbound on Route 78 in Greenwich Township struck the back of a 2017 Toyota Camry, Charles Marchan, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. As a result of the crash, the motorcyclist, whose name has not been released, was ejected and was subsequently struck by a 2020 Toyota Camry, killing him, Marchan said. A state trooper was accused of trying to pay for sex from someone he believed was a teen girl and asking for sexual pictures, authorities said. Shane Dempsey, 31, of Brick Township, was arrested in Ewing on Monday, July 1, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago said in a news release. Investigators said Dempsey contacted an undercover detective on the social media app Whisper earlier in 2024. Police were investigating a possible drowning at a North Jersey lake over the weekend. A man in his 70s was seen entering Lake Hopatcong but never came out on Saturday, June 22, a spokesperson for the Roxbury Police Department said. The call came in just after 7:30 p.m., bringing the Roxbury Fire Department, New Jersey State Police, and the Morris County Sheriff's Office to the scene. A motorcyclist was airlifted to the hospital following a weekend crash in Sussex County. The victim suffered a broken leg in the crash at Wolfpit and Unionville roads in Wantage -- roughly 2½ miles from the New York State line -- between 3-3:30 p.m. Sunday, June 16. Staten Island Motorcyclist, 27, Killed In Route 287 Crash
A 27-year-old motorcyclist from Staten Island died in a weekend crash on Route 287 in Somerset County, authorities said. Durmish Golesh was heading north on a Kawasaki when he rear-ended a Hyundai, overturned, and struck the back of an Infiniti around 11:25 a.m. on Saturday, June 15 in Far Hills, New Jersey State Police Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron said. Golesh was thrown from the bike and died, Lebron said. No other injuries were reported and the crash remains under investigation.
