Essex County Lieutenant Charged With Assault: Prosecutor
David Fontoura, a lieutenant in the Essex Coutny Prosecutor's Office was charged with multiple accounts of assault related to domestic violence incidents, authorities said. Fontoura was charged with aggravated assault, weapons offenses, criminal restraint and making terroristic threats, the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office said, for incidents that occurred in Nutley between September 2019 and March 2020. Fugitive Sought In Jersey City Mom's Murder Arrested In Colombia: Prosecutor
A 28-year-old Jersey City man was extradited from Colombia to the United States on Wednesday, Sept. 11, and charged with murdering a woman in Kearny in 2023, authorities said. Leiner Miranda Lopez had previously been charged with killing Luz Hernandez, a 33-year-old Jersey City mom in February 2023, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. A Mays Landing woman will spend more than half a decade in prison after admitting to killing her husband during an argument in their home on Christmas night, authorities said. Marylue Wigglesworth, 53, was sentenced on Tuesday, Aug. 20 to six years in state prison, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said in a news release on Thursday, Aug. 22. Paterson Officer Released Pending Trial On Stalking, Cyber Harassment Charges: Prosecutor
A 38-year-old Paterson police officer has been indicted by a grand jury on domestic violence charges, authorities said. Alberto Sanabria was indicted on on one count of third-degree terroristic threats, one count of fourth-degree cyber harassment, and one count of fourth degree stalking, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said. Police did not release details in Sanabria's arrest. Sanabria was released on a summons and is expected to appear before Superior Court Judge Barbara Buono Stanton on Aug. 19.
