'Compulsive' Sex Offender, Inmate Escapes During Transport To Hospital In Newark: State Police The New Jersey State Police are asking for the public’s help in locating registered sex offender Nicholas Voutsas, who authorities said escaped from custody while being transported to University Hospital in Newark on Thursday, Jan. 30. Voutsas, 25, escaped from a New Jersey Department of Health medical transport van at approximately 9 a.m. while en route to the hospital, State Police said. The New Jersey Human Services Police Department has charged him with escape, authorities said. Man Killed In Fiery Overnight Newark Crash A man was killed in a fiery crash early Sunday, Oct. 27 in Newark, police said. The male driver was found inside a vehicle that caught fire after crashing into a tree and colliding through a nearby residential gate at Weequahic Avenue near Bergen Street around 3:30 a.m., Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. Firefighters extinguished the fire and the man was pronounced dead. No other injuries have been reported. No further information is available.

Zyion Williams-Jones is accused of shooting Darryl Craft at midnight on Monday, Sept. 2 at Bergen Street and Chadwick Avenue, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Man Assaulted, Attempted Robbery In Road Rage Incident: Newark PD Police are looking for two people after a man was assaulted during a road rage incident in Newark on Tuesday, Sept. 24, authorities said. At 4:50 p.m., a man exited his vehicle at Clinton Avenue and Bergen Street and accused the victim of hitting his car,  Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said.
