Eugenio Carta of Berkeley Township was operating a 1999 Buick Sedan when he drove off the roadway, struck the victim walking her dog on the sidewalk, then came to rest after hitting a tree around 3 p.m. at the intersection on Doral Drive at Cohansey Drive, local police said. 2-Year-Old Boy Dies Days After Near-Drowning In South Plainfield: Prosecutor The two-year-old boy who was in critical condition after nearly drowning succumbed to his injuries on Friday, May 31, authorities said. On Tuesday, May 28, at approximately 7:40 p.m., South Plainfield police received a 911 call reporting that a child was found in the pool and wasn’t breathing.  Upon their arrival, authorities performed CPR on the two-year-old and transported him to JFK Hospital. Amber, affectionately known as "Brown Sugar," graduated from Long Branch High School in 2013 and later earned a medicate associates degree from Brookdale College.
