An off-duty police sergeant has been charged in a head-on crash that killed a 55-year-old man on his way to work earlier this month on Route 23 in Morris County, authorities said. Keith Gunther, 42, of Wanaque, and a sergeant with the East Hanover Police Department, was behind the wheel of the Ford F-150 that was traveling south in the northbound lanes when it struck a 2005 Toyota Camry, headed north, head-on just before 11 p.m. in Riverdale on Tuesday, Oct. 15, Morris County Prosecutor Robert Carroll said. Body Found in Hunterdon County River: Prosecutor
A body was found in a river in Hunterdon County on Sunday, Oct. 27, authorities said. At 5:15 p.m., the Holland Township Police Department responded to a report of a body found in the Musconetcong River, the Hunterdon County Prosecutor's Office said.. A fisherman reported finding the body in a shallow section of the river while fishing in the area, authorities said. The initial investigation indicated that the person had been deceased for several weeks prior to being located, authorities said. Woman Airlifted In Route 80 Crash:

A woman had to be airlifted to a nearby hospital after a crash on Route 80, the early morning of Monday, Oct. 28, state police said. At 2:56 a.m., a Madza SUV was traveling westbound on Route 80 in Rockaway Township when it entered the right shoulder and crashed into the back of an unoccupied truck, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. The driver, a 28-year-old Kenvil woman, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to an area hospital, Lebron said. The crash remains under investigation, Lebron said.

A driver was killed after being struck by an NJ Transit train Monday morning, Oct. 28 in Morris County, authorities said. Montclair-Boonton Line train 1074 struck the vehicle at the Ryerson Road crossing in Lincoln Park just before 9:30 a.m., NJ Transit spokesman Kyalo Mulumba said.
