State Of Emergency Declared In Five NJ Counties; 6 Inches Could Fall In Some Areas, NWS Says
New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy has declared a State of Emergency beginning early Tuesday, Dec. 2, as a winter storm brings heavy snow, sleet, and freezing rain across the northwestern counties.
The declaration takes effect at 5 a.m., and includes Hunterdon, Morris, Passaic, Sussex, and Warren counties, officials said.

Winter weather alerts have been issued across North Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania ahead of Tuesday’s storm, which is expected to bring several inches of snow and slippery roads during the morning commute, according to the National Weather Service.
A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for Sussex County, where 4 to 7 inches of snow and snowfall rates of up to 1 inch per hour are possible.

Hurricane Melissa has officially reached hurricane status, with maximum sustained winds of 75 mph as of Saturday, Oct. 25, according to the National Hurricane Center.
