A Barnegat man will spend several years in prison after admitting to shooting another man in Atlantic City almost two years ago, authorities said. Louis Stokes, 27, was sentenced on Tuesday, Sept. 24 to five years in state prison, the Atlantic City Police Department said in a news release on Wednesday, Oct. 9. Two teens turned themselves in to police after they were wanted in separate shootings in Atlantic City, authorities said. Ashan Jackson, 19, surrendered at Atlantic City police headquarters on Monday, Sept. 2, the department said in a news release on Thursday, Sept. 5. He was accused of shooting a man on Wednesday, Mar. 13. A 27-year-old man from Ocean County has admitted to a shooting in Atlantic City, authorities said. Louis Stokes, of Barnegat, pleaded guilty to charges of second-degree aggravated assault, second-degree possession of a handgun for an unlawful purpose, and third-degree hindering apprehension on Thursday, July 25, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office. Two men and a teen from Atlantic City were accused of two stabbings and a shooting in less than six hours, authorities said. Atlantic City police responded to a fight near the intersection of Tennessee and Atlantic avenues at around 8:30 a.m. on Monday, July 8, the department said in a news release.
